Strategic Allocation

Strategy Overview

Cederian’s Strategic Allocation portfolios focus on broad investment themes rather than security selection. These strategies generally hold low-cost ETFs or closed end funds, though individual securities may be purchased when a pooled vehicle is not available to gain the desired exposure. By holding a relatively small number of positions, the Strategic Allocation portfolios also allow for low minimum account sizes.

Strategic Allocation Fixed Income

The Fixed Income portfolio seeks value-investment opportunities in debt and preferred securities. Accounts in the strategy generally hold bond ETFs, individual exchange traded bonds, convertible debt, preferred securities, and other fixed income products, potentially including (unlevered) inverse return ETFs. The strategy is fairly concentrated: accounts generally hold between 10 and 20 unique positions, though each position may represent many underlying securities. The strategy may maintain up to 30% of the portfolio in cash at any time. Please consider that this strategy is strategically and actively managed in search of both appreciation and yield and may therefore exhibit performance not typical of, and possibly more volatile than, traditional fixed income strategies.

Strategic Allocation Equity

The Equity portfolio identifies value-investment opportunities in broad market segments such as economic sectors, individual countries or regions, or special categories such as spin-offs or preferred securities. Accounts in the strategy will generally hold ETFs, closed-end funds, or individual securities. The strategy is fairly concentrated: accounts generally hold between 10 and 20 unique positions, though each position may represent many underlying securities. The strategy may maintain up to 30% of the portfolio in cash at any time.
